ABOUT

MEDIC-UP! was founded to bring the experience gained in 36 years of EMS and Public Safety Service into the building of functional, well-thought-out first aid and medical kits.  The goal was to also bring that expertise to the training environment with real-world scenarios and practical, hands-on excercises that will make you better prepared for "that day".
Ken Matthews, RN
Owner

Ken began his EMS career in 1986 as a volunteer EMT  on an ambulance service in Green River, Wyoming.  Nursing school was next, with the bonus of being a Wildland Fire Medic during the summers. (Yep, Yellowstone in '88, baby!)  SAR, ER, and ICU experience prepped him for Flight Nursing which began in 1992.

Tactical EMS responsiblities started with the preparations for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, and continued with several local Law Enforcement agencies.  POST certification, international training experience, and 6+ years as a sworn SWAT Officer/Medic/Sniper have rounded out the resume.

With over 1000 air-medical missions under his belt and the oversight of a 6-aircraft flight program he has an in-depth and detailed perspective on medical tactics, preparedness, and operations.

Additionally, Ken is a certified NRA Pistol instructor, as well as a Utah CFP instructor.  He also has published several articles on trauma, weapons, and emergency preparedness topics.
